TCIBR podcast: Lance Hammer and Ballast

Submitted by lance weiler on Thursday, 9 October 2008No Comment

This edition of TCIBR is brought to you by IndieFlix- Lance Hammer took the industry by surprise earlier this year when he walked away from a traditional distribution deal with IFC. His film, Ballast had all the makings of a Cinderella story - dramatic competition slot at Sundance, critical acclaim, audience favorite, awards for Best Direction for a Dramatic film and another for Excellence in Cinematography. But changes in the market left Hammer considering a different path. In our discussion Lance explains what lead to his decision to self distribute, what he’s learned in the process and what he’ll be doing differently in the future.
