It's nice to see so many filmmakers getting "real" about distribution. We created a distribution arm for our production company for exactly the reasons you talk about in your blog post. So far, we've found close to fifty other filmmakers to join us in finding new ways to distribute indie films. We do our bit, by helping filmmakers get their films on iTunes, CinemaNow, etc. Because we are filmmakers first, we aren't interested in exclusivity, long terms, etc. We're now looking at developing software for independent theaters so that they can build neighborhood support for indie films and also give them a tool that will allow them to easily book and program indie films. This has to come from the bottom up. Your approach to build support for a single film is great too, as it will help theaters pick the films they want to program. There's no reason our films can't be ordered and delivered via the internet. If we all keep pushing on this, we can make it happen.
